COSMETIC DENTISTRY
At its heart, dentistry is about restoring form and function to broken dental structures. All dentists are “Cosmetic Dentists”, but we all have different levels of artistic talent in restoring teeth or enhancing the beauty of a smile. Dr. Gregory Daniels' education and experience in cosmetic techniques is broad based and includes hands on experience with many of the masters of the art.
TOOTH WHITENING/BLEACHING
Despite gimmicks advertised to promote "instant" teeth whitening, Dr. Daniels has found that the most effective, economical, and comfortable bleaching technique is the take-home tray system. If a desensitizing toothpaste is used prior to bleaching, there is little sensitivity sometimes experienced following a bleaching session. Within a few days you'll notice a noticeable color change. And you can refresh your tooth color over time as refills of the bleaching product are readily available at a reasonable price. All that is needed to get started is a set of impressions of your teeth, and the trays can be picked up in a few days.
For patients who are in a hurry, or do not think they will comply with an extended do-it-yourself regimen, we are introducing a one hour in-office power bleaching program. This technique, in combination with the take home trays, will also yield terrific results.
Rebuilding, reshaping and re-coloring of damaged and unsightly teeth can be achieved with beautiful results in just one sitting using resin bonding. This is often the treatment of choice when a conservative and life-like result is desired.
PORCELAIN VENEERS
Porcelain veneers are an ultra-thin facing fitted over the teeth in the smile zone. They receive their strength when they are bonded to the enamel of the teeth with special bonding resin cements. Dr. Gregory Daniels may recommend this treatment when natural teeth have imperfections in color, shape or position. It requires the reduction of the outer enamel layer, impressions for fabrication, and the fitting of provisional veneers to be worn during the two to three weeks that fabrication requires. The provisional veneers allow you to evaluate the appearance and make changes before the porcelain work is completed. This treatment is not appropriate for all conditions and a diagnosis and treatment plan is necessary to determine whether this should be your plan of choice.
